"Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship." — Romans 12:1
The Road and the Iron
The body is the instrument every other part of your life is played through. Your work runs through it. Your leadership runs through it. Your protection of the people counting on you runs through it. Your endurance when life gets heavy, and your staying-power across the decades — all of it runs through the body. It is not a vanity project and it is not a personality. It is the tool the mission is built with. The man who has let the tool rust is already losing before the day starts. The man who has built it walks into every room a little harder to knock over.
So you train it for what it can do, not for how it photographs. The long road for the wind and the heart that has to last a lifetime. The iron for the strength your people will one day need you to have. And honest standards — real numbers that mean something when it counts, not vanity numbers chased in a flattering mirror. A body trained this way can generate force, absorb a hit, move clean, recover fast, and keep producing for fifty years. A body trained for the light in the photo cannot. We build the first kind.
There is a floor — a line below which the body is not holding steady but sliding backward — and there is a standard that sits well above it. Most men live below the floor and call it busy. Hear it plainly: if you are an able-bodied man, you have no good excuse to be out of shape. This is not punishment and it is not for the mirror. The body was handed to you on loan, and to train it well, in full, for as long as you are given it, is its own kind of worship.
