Welcome to project7!

Nobody trusts anybody anymore, and you can feel it.

The news lies. The feed sells. The expert was wrong last year and is certain again this year. Prices climb, the ground under the culture keeps shifting, and the rules your father handed you were written for a country that no longer exists. Somewhere in the last few years it stopped feeling far away. It's in your paycheck now, your kids' classroom, the argument at your own table. Every man can see it. Almost nobody knows what to do about it.

Here is what men do instead. They get louder, or they go quiet. They pick a side and let it think for them. They numb it with a screen at midnight. And a man who has done that long enough is not steering his own life. He is being carried, by whoever is pushing hardest that week, and he usually doesn't notice until something he built comes down.

project7 was built on one refusal: that this is as good as it gets.

Not fear. Not another outrage to scroll. A man's strength has to be built somewhere, and the only place it can be built is in the man. A body that carries. A mind that can't be stampeded. A faith that holds when the building doesn't. Money that serves him instead of ruling him. The capacity to protect what is his. A home that is glad he came through the door. And enough wonder left to enjoy any of it.

Seven grounds. One road. Walked from the first gate.

If you came here for a quick fix, this isn't it. If you came here because you are done being carried, you're in the right place.

What is project7?

Every generation of men before this one was handed a map. It came through fathers, through work done shoulder to shoulder, through stories told at tables and rites nobody had to explain, and it showed a boy how to live with purpose, lead with authority, and die with honor. Somewhere in the last hundred years the map was lost. Not destroyed. Scattered, a piece here and a piece there, in the hands of men who never met each other.

project7 is the recovery of that map.

What It Is

project7 is a continuous education for men. Not a course you finish, and not a feed you scroll. It organizes the whole of a man's life into seven grounds, walked in order, with a mountain past the seventh that is not a ground at all. Every ground holds the knowledge, the practices, and the men worth learning from in that area of life, gathered over two decades from fighters, craftsmen, builders, businessmen, pastors, fathers, and ordinary men whose lives can stand being looked at. All of it is indexed, searchable, and built to be used, not admired: routines, plans, assessments, and goals a man can put his own numbers into.

The whole thing stands on a Christian view of the world. That is stated plainly here so nobody has to guess at it later. A man does not have to share it to walk the grounds. He will find that the grounds keep asking him about it.

What It Is Not

It is not motivation. Motivation is a feeling, and feelings do not build anything that lasts past Tuesday.

It is not a place that tells you who to be. It puts the tools, the knowledge, and the right men in front of you, and it holds you to a standard. Who you become with that is your work.

It is not a shortcut, a hack, or a secret. The men who came before you did not have one either. They had a map and the will to walk it.

And it is not for everyone. It is for the man who is done drifting: the one who wants roots, direction, strength, and a reason to get up in the morning that will still be there when he is sixty.

What Each Ground Is For

  1. SPIRIT: Know what is true, and know which way you are facing.

  2. HEALTH: Build a body and a mind that can carry what your life is going to ask of them.

  3. SMARTS: Learn how to learn, how to think, and how to say what you mean.

  4. MONEY: Provide for your people, and never let money become your master.

  5. DEFENSE: Protect what you love, and know the hour to draw and the hour to stand down.

  6. LOVE: Lead your home with authority and tenderness, and leave a name worth carrying.

  7. FUN: Keep the wonder, make things with your hands, and gather the people you love.

  8. MASTERY: Become the man you were made to be, which is not the same man you have been building.

Each ground is walked through three grounds of its own, and every one of them is described on the Domains page. The man each ground forms has a name and an animal, and you will meet all eight on the Archetypes page.

How It Is Meant to Be Used

You can read anywhere you like. Most men open the ground they are already strong on, and that is fine for a first look. But the road is walked in order, starting at SPIRIT, because each ground hands the next one a man it could not have received any earlier. A body built before the heart is examined becomes an idol. Money earned before a man knows what it is for becomes his master. The order is not a suggestion.

Start with an honest look at where you stand. The Assessment & Evaluations will tell you which grounds are holding and which are quietly coming down. Then read How it Works, and go to the first gate.

Who It Is For

Men who want to be rooted in faith, strength, intelligence, generosity, self-control, gentleness, and joy, and who have noticed that none of those come from a screen. Men who want more than an image, a status, or a quick win. Fathers who want to hand their sons a map instead of a phone. And the boys on their way to becoming those men.

If that is you, welcome. If it isn't yet, the gate will still be there when it is.

Enter the 7 Domains…

Most men are strong on one or two grounds and quietly failing on the rest. The money is good and the body is going. The body is hard and the marriage is hollow. The faith is real on Sunday and absent by Tuesday. Nobody handed them a whole map, so they worked the corner of it they could see.

project7 is the whole map. Seven grounds, walked in order, and past the seventh a mountain that is not a ground at all. Together they form one road, and the road only makes sense walked from the first gate.

One thing to know before you start. The same subject will meet you on more than one ground, and it will not look the same twice. A lie a man tells himself is named in the Courtyard and the weight of it set on his own shoulders. The Library teaches him how it works. The Estate shows him what it does to a person who has to live with it. The Farm shows him the same thing as a weapon in another man's hand, and leaves it to his conscience whether he ever picks it up. Nothing here is covered once and filed. It is turned over until a man can see every side of it.

The Courtyard

Every man is already living by a set of beliefs. Most of them he never chose. They were handed to him by a father, a wound, a screen, or a crowd, and they run his life from a back room without ever being asked to show their papers. SPIRIT is where they get asked. This is the Courtyard, and it comes first on purpose: a man who builds a body, a bank account, and a family on beliefs he has never examined is building on sand and calling it bedrock. Here the heart is brought into the light and measured against what is true instead of what is comfortable. Belief is tested by responsibility. Character is formed by what a man does when nobody is grading him. There is one question cut into the stone at this gate, and every man answers it before he takes another step. Are you willing to go wherever the truth leads?

The Proving Ground

The gym down the street will sell you a body to look at. This ground builds one to use. HEALTH is the Proving Ground, a working ranch where every man is handed something powerful and unbroken that has never once decided he was in charge, and told to bring it under. That animal is him. Three yards. Mindset, where the goals get written down and the habits get built. Nutrition, where the fuel is chosen instead of grabbed. Fitness, where strength is earned a rep at a time and kept for decades. None of it exists so a man can admire himself in a mirror. The word over this gate is BUILT TO CARRY: a body strong enough that the people who depend on you never have to wonder whether you can. Nobody sells that. It has to be built. Come find out what you were built to carry.

The Library

A man can hold strong opinions on forty subjects and have earned none of them. He picked them up from his family, his feed, or the loudest man in the room when he was twenty-two, and he mistakes the fluency for thought. SMARTS is where thinking gets rebuilt from the floor up. This is the Library: how to take in what is true and throw out what isn't, how to study a subject until it changes you instead of decorating you, how to write and speak so plainly that nobody can hide in the fog, and how to read the men and the crowds trying to move you before they do. It is not a place that makes you clever. Clever men are everywhere, and most of them are wrong. The word over this door is ALWAYS BE LEARNING, because the most capable man in the building is the one most willing to say he doesn't know yet. Walk in as one.

The Exchange

Most men are not bad with money. They are afraid of it or ruled by it, and both look the same from the outside: a man who works hard and never gets ahead. MONEY is the Exchange, and it runs on three floors. Earn, where a man learns to sell his time, then his skill, then his judgment. Save, where the count room turns income into something that stays. Invest, where the money goes to work while he sleeps, in property, markets, and businesses, and in the cycles that wreck men who never learned to read them. Nothing on these floors is a trick, and nobody here promises to make you rich. The promise is narrower and worth more. You will understand what money is for. You will stop being owned by it. And you will provide for the people who count on you without becoming a man they no longer recognize.

The Farm

Every man believes he would know what to do. Most have never been hit, never been robbed, never had to clear their own hallway at three in the morning with their kids behind a door. DEFENSE is where that belief gets tested before life tests it. This is the Farm: a homestead to protect, a pit where striking and grappling are proven against men who hit back, an armory where the knife and the rifle are handled with the respect they demand, and a war room where tactics, teams, and the fog of real conflict are studied under men who have lived it. None of it is about looking dangerous. It is about being the one steady man on the property when everyone else is shaking, and about a harder skill than any of it: knowing which hour you are in, and whether it is time to draw or time to stand down.

The Estate

A man can win every fight on the Farm and still walk into his own kitchen and lose. LOVE is where that man comes home. This is the Estate, and it has three grounds. The Hearth: friends who tell you the truth, animals that teach you patience, and the woman you court, marry, and stay married to. The Nursery: children raised on purpose, from the first heartbeat on a screen to the day a son leaves the house as a man. The Grounds: the marriage that outlasts its hardest year, the memories a family is still retelling in fifty years, and a name that is still worth something after you are gone. None of it is soft. Love here is not a feeling a man waits to have. It is a weight he chooses to carry for people who cannot carry it themselves.

The Open Country

The last ground is the one men skip, because they think it is the reward for finishing the others. It isn't. A man is built to be re-created, and the one who refuses it wears out like a tool that never comes off the job. FUN is the Open Country. The Workshop, where hands learn to make something: wood, music, a photograph worth keeping. The Backcountry, where the trail, the river, and the deer stand teach a man what no screen can, and where a father and son finally get six quiet hours together. The Fairgrounds, where the birthday, the cookout, the road trip, and the wedding gather everyone he loves under one string of lights. This is not the cheap thrill in your pocket. That one leaves a man empty. This one leaves him full. The word over this gate is KEEP THE WONDER. Somewhere out here the road runs out, and there is something standing at the end of it.

The Mountain

Past the seventh ground there is no eighth ground. There is a mountain, and it has a door in it. Seven domains build a man. This one shows him what he built, and it does it with a mirror, because every gate before it had a word cut over it and this one has glass. There is no guide inside and no crowd. There is a man, a torch, a long climb through three chambers, and the one opponent who walked in beside him at the first gate and has never left. Most men who reach the door never go in. Some go in, walk two rooms, and come back out with a good story. The ones who go all the way through do not come out holding a prize. They come out carrying less than they brought in, and every one of them says the same thing about it: that was the point. What waits at the top is not sold, not taught, and not earned. It is found by the men who stop climbing to get above other men. 🗝️
